BBC Breakfast Visit The Market

Aaron Heslehurst On The Nail

Are customers getting a good deal from their bank? That’s the question posed by BBC Breakfast when they visited The Market today.

After a very early start, traders welcomed a BBC Breakfast crew to discuss an issue which is possibly as old as The Market itself – do banks offer a good deal to consumers and businesses?

Our traders, who all operate small businesses were well placed to answer the question, with a bank executive and Which? magazine representative adding a more national perspective to the discussion.

Highlighting The Market’s ‘Nail’, where trading has historically taken place, BBC’s Aaron Heslehurst talked about how the certainty of paying ‘cash on the nail’ has been replaced by the uncertainty of relying on banks to carry out transactions.

Aaron was also treated to some less traditional aspects of The Market including Vegemite and white aubergines.
