Farewell To The King

Sadly, The King Of The Rock ‘n’ Roll Jungle is leaving us. Happily, he is due to be auctioned as part of the Lions Of Bath local fundraising event.

Since June, The King has delighted thousands of visitors to The Market, who have taken to him with warm affection, posing for photographs with the true celebrity of The Market.

In June, The King was visited by the fantastic Elvis impersonator Gavin Lazarus, who had everyone singing along with the full repertoire of Elvis songs.

Even celebrity DJ, Mike Read, held court with The King, saying that he was amazed by his very understated presence.

The painstaking images and sculpting on the body of The King take onlookers from the earliest days of Sun Studio, through poses of the 50s & 60s to the heady days of Las Vegas. Two of his feet are painted blue and one side of his lip curls gently upwards beneath his piercing blue eyes and swept back black hair. The army dog tags around his neck are even engraved with Elvis’s army number and the title of one of his many classic songs GI Blues.

If, like us, you have fallen in love with The King and would like to be his proud new owner, why not register to bid for him in the auction taking place at Bath’s Komedia club on Sunday 17th October 2010?
